Mary "Polly Methvin" was a daughter of Levi Methvin of Maryland. She was a sister to James, Sarah, Anna, Thomas, Susanah, Lavinah, Rhoda, and a half sister to Elizabeth and Levi Jr. She married Joseph Kirk, in 1824 in Jackson Co., AL. They were the parents of Lavina M., Sarah E., Joseph P.F., and Frances C. (Melton). They remained in Alabama through the October 7, 1850, Limestone Co., AL, Census, with their children and future son-in-law, James P. Toney. They also had a boarder, George Connally of GA. By 1860, she lived in Knob Creek, in Izard Co., AR, with daughter Luvina Toney and husband James, and their two children. Also in the house was her son Joseph P. F. Kirk. By 1870 her estranged husband was no longer in the home and, her son-in-law James P. Toney had died in the War Between the States. But she lived with Luvina and her three children, John, Francis and Mary Toney. Polly was 69 yrs. old at the time. She spent the rest of her life near Knob Creek or Newburg, in Izard county, in peace and was buried in Unity Cemetery by her daughter Luvina Toney. Do not copy any part if this info.
