ATLANTA, Ga. - John H. Brett, 66, of Atlanta passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2008 following a long battle with cancer. He spent most of his career in the ready-mix concrete business and participated in Atlanta's commercial construction boom over the last 35 years including the Georgia Pacific building, Marriott Marquis, Georgia Aquarium and several MARTA stations. He was ordained as a deacon in 1973 at Emory Baptist Church and was a current member of the First Baptist Church of Tucker. He will be remembered for his deep love of family and fondness for dogs, fishing, and motor sports. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kay Brett; sons, Graham Brett and Tony Brett; stepdaughter, Mary King; stepson, Rickie Patterson and grandchildren, Hailey, Gregory, Rachel and Tyler. He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Lamb, Barbara Smith and brother, Virgil Brett. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29th at First Baptist Church of Tucker.
