Pleasant Pryor b. 1844 married Mary Catherine Stewart. He also lived in District 6 of Overton Co. and appeared on the 1860, 1870 and 1880 Census records. In 1880 Pleasant was the manager of the Overton Co. Poor House. Other researchers have reported that Pleasant was married a second time to Deliah Drummonds the mother of his daughter Sadie Pryor. There appears to have been a third marriage to a Mariah C. as she appears with him on the 1920 census and is buried near him in Texas. Pleasant died in 1920 in Godley, Johnson Co., TX.

**His middle name on the memorial was at one time listed as 'Drummond'. The records that exist for him have a consistent pattern of an elimination of a middle name from the 1850 to 1920 censuses, death certificate, marriage records, children's records and finally the tombstone itself.

Some of the confusion arose from the understanding of the 1900 and 1910 censuses in the household relationships with Pleasant Pryor's 2nd spouse, Marie Cordelia Jeffery (who was also previously married). Her first husband's name was Joseph Drummond. She had 5 children with Joseph Drummond. Some of their children were listed with that surname, Drummond, on the 1900 and 1910 censuses in Pleasant Pryor's household.**
