Donald D. Bloom

GIRARD - Donald D. Bloom, 68, of 142 East Wilson Ave., died Tuesday evening of a heart attack at Northside Medical Center in Youngstown.

The lifelong resident of Girard was born June 28, 1928, the son of Denton W. and Edith M. (Rowles) Bloom.

Bloom worked as a stocker helper at the U.S. Steel McDonald Works for 34 years. He retired in 1980.

He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Girard. He was a Girard Volunteer Fireman and an Army veteran.

He married his wife, Shirley J. James, on July 29, 1949.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Denton R. of Xenia, and Randall J. of Girard; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara A. Joseph of Mineral Ridge, and Mrs. Janet D. Rogers of Niles; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Betty Genetta and Mrs. Vivian Shiley.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Girard.

Burial will be in the Girard City Cemetery.
