***HISTORICAL CHANDLER LINEAGE***

CLARENCE ASA CHANDLER was of the Waynesville, Ohio Chandler lineage; significantly, of which, originated from Pennsylvania, where the first immigrants from Wiltshire, England settled around 1687 on the shores of the Delaware.

Those immigrants were Jane and George Chandler. Their lineage(confirmed by DNA testing)date back, at least, to Nicholas Chandler(b1540) of Wiltshire, England; with his father, being John Chandler(born abt1503-14).

Thusly, Clarence Asa Chandler can be paternally traced in ascension from the "American Line of Chandler Descendents(7b)" to John(abt1503) > Nicholas(1540) > Thomas > John > George born 1633 in Wiltshire who married Jane, had eight children, and died at sea while emigrating to America; leaving Jane a widow on her own with children to shelter, which initially was in a 'cave house' on the high banks of the Delaware. There is more to the "George and Jane Saga".

Other documented sources state the lineage can be shown dating further back to 1252; during the time of King Harold and the Norman Invasion, by William the Conquerer. Of that time, Nicholas le Chaundeler(Chandler) was awarded land in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire*. Later at Westminster, he was granted 'Houses' in the city of London during reigns of King Henry and then, Edward.
*Note: Coincidentally[?], the Bacchus Fountain Statue in Chandler Court, was casted in Gloucestershire(c1912).

Thus, this lineage has been dubbed the 'Wiltshire Chandler Group", consisting of subgroups 7a,b and c; of which, Clarence Asa belongs to "Chandler Subgroup 7b".
