Stanley M. Tate, 78, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Oak Tree Villa in Jefferson City.
Mr. Tate was born May 6, 1931, in Portland, Missouri, the son of the late Kenneth and Nellie (Smith) Tate. On February 2, 1974, in Carrington, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Joanna Sue Wallace. Joanna survives at their home.
Mr. Tate is also survived by, one son, Steven R. Tate of Plano, Texas, one grandson, Jason Tate, two step-granddaughers, Jessica and Tiffaney and his two lovable cats, Sugar and Spice.
He was preceeded in death by two sons, Gregory Tate and Douglas Tate.
Mr. Tate was a Fulton High School graduate and also attended The University of Missouri.
He served his country in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1958.
He had worked as an insurance agent for Commercial Credit Company and for Riley Chevrolet.
Mr. Tate was a Member of the Concord Babtist Church and a member of American Legion Post 5 in Jefferson City. He loved to play golf and barbaque some great meals. He was a St. Louis Cardinal fan and and a fan of the MU football team. Stanley also loved to fly his single engine airplane. The happiest times in his life were spent with his wife, Joanna Sue, family and friends, telling stories and laughing together.
Funeral services Saturday, February 20, 2010, at the Debo Funeral Home in Fulton, Missouri. Visitation February 19 from 5:00-7:00pm. Interment will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Concord Babtist Church or to Hospice Compassus.
