James Guy Latimer, the eldest son of James Kirk and Sarah (McLinn, Ebright) Latimer was born on a farm near Holton, Jackson County, KS. In 1906 the family moved to Oklahoma. They were living on a farm near the present town of Burns Flat, Washita County, OK, when he was married to Elva Mae Armstrong on Aug. 10, 1913. After a few years on a farm near Burns Flat, they moved to a farm north of Canute, OK. It was there they reared their family. They were undenominational Protestant in faith.
Mr. Latimer was a life-long farmer and passed from this life in Elk City, OK, at the home of a sister. He was survived by his children: Neva, of the home; Edith Ferguson and her husband, Cephas, of Tatum, TX; Loyd, and his wife, Wanda, of Elk City; and Carl, and his wife, Jean, of Woodward; two sisters, Louise Latimer, of the home, Myrtle Smith and her husband, Dave, of Lexington, and one brother, Kirk, and his wife, Pearl, of Foss. Also several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Thomas, one half-sister, Ella Black, one daughter, who
was stillborn, and one son, James Reed, who died in infancy.
Interment was at North Burns Cemetery, south of Burns Flat, Washita County, OK.
