John died in a house fire. There is a very interesting story about his death that was passed down to me from my Grandfather, George Grover Green, Sr who along with his brother, Louise, noticed the house was on fire and ran over to try to get John out. The fire had already spread to the point where they could not get him out but my Grandfather said he could hear him screaming on the inside. When the fire had subsided, the remains of John Green were found just behind the front door of the house. My Grandfather believed he had been tied up and my Grandfather also seemed to have an idea of who he thought might have done it...but he never revealed a name. George Grover Green, Sr. and his brother Walter Louise Green were both sons of John's older brother, James Asbury Green.
