Allyn, Loretta COHOES, N.Y. Loretta Allyn, 90, died September 20, 2010 at her residence surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Cohoes and a lifelong resident, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Catherine Leonard Fitz-gerald. She was the wife of the late John Allyn. Loretta was loved by her family, friends and anyone she met. She was a hero to many people and will be fondly remembered for her blue Irish eyes, her love of Perry Como's song "Impossible", Friday night dinners and her favorite drink, Manhattan's. She was the loving mother of Karen (Mike) McGill, Maureen (Dan) Rock and the late John and Michael Allyn; sister of the late Henry Fitzgerald and Patricia Fogarty; grandmother of Cynthia Baker-Myer, Christine Hinkel, Michael McGill, Crystal Allyn-Gregory, Shannon McGill-White, Jill Prusky, Laura Rock, Riley Rock and Britney Rock; also survived by 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from the Marra Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery Cohoes. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-8 p.m. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jen, Jerry and J. with Rensselaer County Hospice and also to Matt Rock for the excellent care and compassion given to Loretta in her time of need.
