William “Bill” Lawrence Canning, 55, of Marion, died Friday, June 26, 2015. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 9th at 4:00 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. Visitation will be from 3 to 4 prior to service.
Survivors include his mother, Lu Canning; two brothers, Mike (Carrie) Canning and Tom Canning; two sisters, Cathy Canning and Vicky (Jon) van den Berg; nieces and nephews, Michael Foley, Ashley Foley, Jennica Foley, Allison Canning, Kristin Canning, Dillon van den Berg, Samantha van den Berg, and Elijah Canning.
He was preceded in death by his father, Terry Canning in 2010.
Bill was born October 30, 1959, the son of Terry and Lucretia (Barrett) Canning in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Regis High School in 1978 and the University of Iowa in 1996. He was Chief Engineer at KPXR TV until shortly before his death.
Bill enjoyed fishing, camping, and online gaming. He loved books and was an avid reader. Bill was a loving son, brother, uncle and a great friend to many.
