The son of James Anderson Armistead and Emily Strong Colley. Served in Co. H, 42nd Georgia during the War between the States.
Following the war, he began working for the railroad. Believe he married Clara Perdue and had two children - Maude & Claude. He died in a train wreck near Union Point, GA. He was the engineer of the train.
