Marylu BAILEY (09/21/1929 - 01/25/2016)

Marylu Bailey, life long St. John area farm woman, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016 at St. John Community Pride. She was 86. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, January 30th at 11:00 am at the St. John United Methodist Church. A private family burial will be at the St. John Cemetery. Marylu was born at the family farmhouse near St. John September 21, 1929 to Harold and Fern (Oliver) Loomis. Marylu was the third child of four and she grew up in the Rock Lake area with her three brothers. She attended grade school in Ewan and graduated from St. John in 1947 where she had also been a cheerleader. She married a long time classmate of hers, Lyle H. Bailey March 24, 1950. They farmed out toward Lamont and later in the Cherry Creek area for many years, raising mainly wheat and cattle. Marylu was active in every facet of the farm and was responsible for teaching the grandkids how to drive truck too. She kept active in the operation well into her 70's. They turned the farm over to their three sons in 1986 and moved into St. John. Marylu was an excellent cook but may have been better known for her immaculate yard and gardens. At one time Marylu had 199 different roses in her garden. She was a member of the St. John Golf & Country Club, belonged to a bridge club and loved playing cards and she and the family enjoyed great times at their lake place on Badger Lake. Family was always very important to Marylu and she absolutely loved following her grandkids in their sports or other activities. She was extremely proud of her children and their families. She is survived by her three sons and their wives; Bruce and Tammy, Gary and Linda, Mark and Jamie all of St. John; eight grandchildren; Blake, Heath, Travis, Jared, Ashley, Mikael, Erin and Gus; and 11 great-grandchildren; Erin, Joelle, Halley, Bailey, Grant, Layne, Lily, Zachery, Peyton, Carson and Harrison. She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle in 2011, her three brothers, Dick, Doug and Bill Loomis and by her parents. The family suggests memorials be made to the St. John-Endicott Schools Foundation, P.O. Box 411, St. John, WA 99171. On-line guest book is at www.bruningfuneralhome.com
