Theodore "Ted" M. Colt, was born July 21, 1946 in Sioux City, IA. Entered his eternal rest September 30, 2008. A parish vigil service at 7 p.m., Oct. 3, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Craig Collison officating. Organist, Marlene Hulleman and Cantor, Allison Beumber, Cantor. Casket bearers Scotty Colt, Gary, Mark, Randy, Brian, Tony Plantenberg. Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean, son Brad (Kristen) Colt, daughter, Mellissa (Scott) Hostetler; three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Tim in 1988. Interment Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors with Sergeant Bluffs American Legion.
Sioux City - Theodore "Ted" M. Colt, 62, passed away Tues., 30 Sept. 2008, at a Sioux City hospital from complications of Alpha-1 liver disease.
Theodore Michael Colt was born 21 July 1946, in Sioux City, to Elmer "Mick" & Vivian (Wynn) Colt. He attended & graduated from Central High School in 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1971. He & Norma Plantenburg were married 18 Feb. 1967.
Over the years, he worked at Cargill, was a beer truck driver for a local distributor for 21 years, spent 12 years, as a business agent for the Teamsters Local 554 & recently worked in the food service at the Sioux City Community School District.
He was a member of United Way, Sioux City Food Bank, Teamsters, West Side Little League, Riverside Park committee, Sergeant Bluff American
Legion & numerous other organizations.
He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities, spending time with his family & was an avid outdoorsman.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean of Sioux City; a son & his wife, Brad & Kristen Colt of Elk Point, SD.; a daughter & her husband,
Melissa & Scott Hostetler of Sloan, Iowa; grandchildren, Skylar & Hunter Hostetler & Dylan, Jennica & Alicen Colt; 8 brothers & sisters,
Karen & Vince McMahon of Sioux City, Terry Colt & Marlene of Sioux City, Wendy Colt & friend, Jerry of McCook Lake, SD., Denise Powers &
friend, Bob of North Sioux City, Cathy & Bill Poshard of Illinois, Ernie Colt & friend, Anne Wheelock of Sioux City, & Carrie Dunne of Sioux Falls, SD.; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tim; & a sister, Pam.
