DOWNEY, CA/RICHFIELD, UT --Hart M. Anderson passed away peacefully in Downey, California on November 8, 2003 at the age of 82.

He was born November 11, 1920, in Monroe, Utah, to Alton and Susan Olevia Magleby Anderson. He graduated from Richfield High School and also from the University of Utah. He married the "love of his life" Wilma Gunn on September 6, 1947 in Salt Lake City.

He had three children, Tony, Patricia and Brian; four grandchildren from Tony; Jenny, Anthony, Jessica and Garrett. He was also blessed with two step-grandsons, Jeremy and Michael, when Patricia married David B. Wheatley. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Margaret and his son, Tony.

He was a man of honor, dignity, generosity, gifted intelligence and a love for flying. He was a World War II veteran who served his country by teaching British pilots how to fly. He moved to Southern California and was employed by Rockwell International for 35 years. During that time he designed guidance systems for the Apollo Space Program, enabling the first American to walk on the moon.

He enjoyed his family and built a sailboat which provided many wonderful times for his family. He was an avid fisherman and brought his family to Richfield for summer vacations. He considered Fish Lake "his idea of heaven".

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 14, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. in the Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary Chapel, 50 S. 100 W. in Richfield, UT, where friends may call on Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. Burial in Richfield City Cemetery with military rites. Funeral directors, Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield.
