In an affidavit dated June 1, 1918, prepared by Henry T. Cayou, he states that Louisa Cayou-Mathews is the "daughter of Louis (Lewis) Cayou, and her mother was a full-blood Swinomish Indian" - NOT Mary Ann Sulwham Cayou. This document was prepared for application to the United States Government for benefits with the Mitchell Bay Indian Tribe. All other siblings were the children of Louis and Mary Ann Cayou.
