Dr. John "Jack" Baker devoted his life to his family and profession as an orthopedic surgeon caring for others. He had a special place in his heart for those in the military. Jack performed his duty by serving our country in the Army as an orthopedic surgeon for 10 years, most recently at the Bay Pines VA Hospital. He attended Loyola University in Chicago, where he met his wife, Arlene. He later went on to receive his medical degree in the honors program at Northwestern University. Jack did his residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and a fellowship at Yale's Newington Children's Hospital in Connecticut. In 1978, he moved his family to Tampa where he opened up his private practice on Swann Avenue. He deeply loved the community. He is survived by his wife, of 46 years, Arlene; sons Michael and Kevin and daughter, Erin; his mother Rosemary; grandchildren, Nicholas, Nathan, Madison, Ryan, Andrew, Jaxon, and Jacob, all who affectionately referred to him as "Bubba;" brothers Bishop Bob, Tom, and sister, Mary Ann Jepsen.
