Sister Celesta Guisinger, age 98, of Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc,
died Thursday, November 12, 1992, at the Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 am. Monday, November 16, 1992, at the
Holy Family Convent Chapel. The Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem, will
officiate the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Holy
Family Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The former Alice Guisinger was born November 2, 1894, in Lancaster,
Ohio, daughter of the late William and Josephine Nininger Guisinger. She
entered the convent in 1912 and professed her vows in 1915. Sister
Celesta earned a B.A. Degree from the University of Notre Dame, Notre
Dame, Ind., and a M.S. Degree from Marquette University, Milwaukee.
Sister served as an elementary teacher in Kaukauna, Plymouth and Ashton,
Wis. She taught high school students at Lindsay and West Point,
Nebraska; Delaware and Zanesville, Ohio; Chicago, Ill.; Ironwood, Mich.;
and Maple Grove and Potosi, Wis. She also served as the principal of the
high school in Potosi, Wis. and Lindsay, Neb. Since her retirement from
active ministry in 1980, she has been residing at the Motherhouse of the
Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include her Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Sunday, November 15, 1992, from 5-8 p.m. at the Holy
Family Convent, Manitowoc. A Prayer service will be held at the Holy
Family Convent Chapel. The Pfeffer Funeral Home of Manitowoc is
assisting with funeral arrangements.
