Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Lovelace Brown, wife of Attorney U. W. Brown and one of Colusa's best known residents, who died suddenly yesterday afternoon following a brief illness, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home, 843 Jay street, which she loved so well and where she had lived for more than sixty years.
On the 19th of November of this year Mr. and Mrs. Brown would have observed their fortieth wedding anniversary-two-score years during which they had lived happily together, shared each other's burdens and endeared themselves to this community, which was deeply grieved and shocked at the death of Mrs. Brown.
Mrs. Emma Lovelace Brown was 66 years, 5 months and 8 days of age at the time of death. She was a native of Missouri and came to California when four years of age to live with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Harris, in the beautiful home where she died. The Harris family were pioneers of Colusa county and they raised Mrs. Brown.
In 1889 she was united in marriage with Attorney U. W. Brown and four children blessed their union.
The children who survive are Mrs. Azile Brown Albery, wife of District Attorney Harmon M. Albery, Waverly and Lovelace Brown, both of whom are successfully engaged in agricultural pursuits. Harris Brown, another son, and veteran of the World War, died several years ago.
Besides her husband and children, Mrs. Brown is survived by the following brothers and sisters: C. W. Lovelace, John Lovelace, W. L. Lovelace, and Stewart H. Lovelace, all of Maxwell, and Mrs. George B. Harden of Oakland. Another sister Mrs. Mattie Miles of San Francisco preceded her in death.
She is also survived by one grandson, Lovelace Brown, Jr.
Sullivan Bros. will have charge of the funeral. Interment will be made in Colusa cemetery.
