A graduate of Lehman High School, Kent State University and the Illinois College of Optometry, he practiced optometry in the Cleveland, Akron and Canton areas for 57 years.
He was a practicing Roman Catholic and a member of St. Mary's of Massillon. An avid golfer he was a member of Shady Hollow Country Club where he also enjoyed dinners with his Wednesday night meeting group. He was a private pilot for over 50 years and he wrote and self-published three books of fiction under the nom de plume of William A. Francis.
Our Dad loved people and animals and never turned away a stray.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sylvester L. Agnone, MD, Marie (Lyons) Agnone and son John Jeffrey Agnone. Survived by his children: Jeanne Marie Woods of Canton and her partner in life Dennis Wells who was a good friend to Dr. Agnone and often took care of him and his house, Jeffrey David Agnone of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Thomas Paul (Teena) Agnone, Mary Lynn (Samuel) Warther, former wife Helen Agnone all of Louisville, 10 grandchildren; Tanya (Chris) Williams, Eddie Woods, Jeffrey, Jessica, Justin, Julianne and Jenna Agnone, Samuel, Olivia and Anna Warther, great-granddaughter Lily Jeanne Marie Williams.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at the Rossi Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday at 12:30 pm in the funeral home with Rev. Fr. Edward Gretchko officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
