Elvin L. Cantrell, 98, Versailles, died at his home Thursday evening, March 1. He was born at Bone Gap, Ill. On April 16, 1880, son of the late Mark and Mary A. Cantwell.
He was married to Oliza Jane Smith, who preceded him in death in 1956. In 1957 he was married to Mary Sidebottom, who preceded him in death in 1977.
He was a member of the Pentecostal Church.
He leaves three stepsons, Otis and Melvin Sidebottom, both of Kansas City, and Coy Sidebottom of Versailles; three step-daughters, Mrs. Wilda McCasland and Mrs. Dessie Inman, both of Versailles, and Mrs. Della Turpin, Stover; 15 step-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren, also a friend who cared for him for several years, Mrs. Ethel Sells. He also was preceded in death by one step-son.
Funeral services were held at 2:20 p.m. Sunday, March 4 in the Scrivner Chapel with the Rev. George Scott officiating. Interment was in the Holt Cemetery near Gravois Mills.
