Philip Asbury Barnett, an aged and highly respected businessman of Saxton, died at his home May 2, 1942 at 11:40 o'clock. A son of Jacob B. and Nancy (Hockenberry) Barnett, he was born in Bedford County on August 12, 1859. At the time of death he was aged 82 years old. He was united in marriage with Clara Cessna, who preceded him in death on April 27, 1933. Mr. Barnett moved to Saxton in 1892 (age 33 years) and entered the bottling business, in which he remained until his demise. He was one of the promoters of the Saxton Brick Company and as long as health permitted had shown a keen interest in all affairs of a civic nature. In earlier years he had enjoyed a prominent place in the world of business. He was a member of the Saxton Methodist Church.
