Wilhelm Friedric Link was born in Germany. He immigrated to the USA in 1870. The write up in the newspaper about his accidental fall, inicated that he spent his early years in the US in Texas. However, by 1877 he was living in St. Louis, MO. He was working for the German-Czech newspaper, Amerika for several years. He was employed as a Clerk in the court all the while he owned a Link's Wood & Coal business. He & his family moved frequently within the St. Louis area, but they primarly lived in the Layfayette district. His oldest son, Alphonse, traveled to Oklahoma City, OK to open a grocery store in 1900. Several months later he joined him. According to the newspaper, William was walking down the street & leaned on a rail located at the post office that was under construction. He lost his balance & fell backwards as his friend tried to grab his coat, but lost his grip. William fell & was killed instantly.
