Jacob I. Coons served in the War of 1812 as a Corporal in Capt. Beveere's Co., 130th Regiment, NY Militia. He married Hannah Pardee. In 1864 they moved from NY to MI and settled on section 23 in Bowne Township, Kent Co. His tombstone was located and photographed by the Michigan Society of U.S. Daughters of War of 1812.
