He and his wife Anna,were among the first settlers in this region.He proved up on land, first building a home made of sod, and later built a two-story, part log, and part sod home where the family lived.
He and Anna had five children that we know of: John Wesley Jr. William H., Charles N., Ester Ann (called Hattie) and Martha (called Mattie)
He was buried at Cottonwood cemetery, but if there ever was a marker, it is no longer exists.
