Harry E. Ayers, 63, Grantville, died Monday morning in a local hospital. He had been hospitalized since April 23. He was born Jan. 10, 1910 in south Haven in Sumner county.
He had lived in Topeka most of his life. He had lived at 1105 N. Van Buren for 28 years before moving in March to his new retirement home which he had built.
He owned and operated Ayers Garage at 1120 N. Central for 20 years, rebuilding his garage and three other homes following the 1951 flood.
He married Catherine Lee July 20, 1940. She survives. Other survivors include a son, John E. Ayers, Topeka; 3 daughters, Mrs. Judy Miller, Rossville, Millie Ayers and Mrs. Peggy Silver, both of Topeka; a stepdaughter, Janice Bagg, Albany, Ore.; and 9 grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at Davidson-Duff Funeral Home with burial at Rochester Cemetery.
