Fidelity

I put them away with loving care,
A picture and a lock of hair.
A tender, silent funeral made
Beneath a drooping willow's shade.
And standing firm upon the sod
I said a little prayer to God.

The winters come with statley grace,
But grass and dasies come apace;
And with the spring my heart awakes
To see the lonely willow brakes,
And view a grave thats hallowed there;
A tender, unforgotten prayer.

By Willard D. Frazier
Written probably sometime in the late 1920s, up until his death. There are several other poems by Willard, found in Loretta's estate.

Willard died in an industrial explosion, lighting up a cigarette where he evidently shouldn't have. He left his wife of one month to mourn his untimely death.
