BENJAMIN RALPH LONGACRE passed away while surrounded by family after a three year battle with cancer.

Ben was born in Madrid, New Mexico to Reuben and Theresita Longacre. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen Louise Longacre; and three children. Sons: Stephan and Cris Longacre, Bill and Neva Longacre; daughter,: Donna Cockrell and Joe Lewis; four grandchildren: Luke and Eileen Longacre, Josh Longacre, Jacob Cockrell, and Jessica and Ryus Finch; one great grandchild, Noah Cockrell; two sisters: Ferby Vigil and Tommy Garcia.

Ben was preceded in death by his daughter, Vanessa; his parents and: four brothers: Joe, Dave, Henry and Tony Longacre, his two sisters: Isabelle Montoya and Theresa Chavez.

Ben served in the US Marines during the Korean conflict. He became a resident of San Juan County in 1968. He was one of the first members of the International Union of Operational Engineers, Local 953, chartered in 1950. Ben retired from BHP in 1988, and set off after that on a journey which would land him in Las Vegas, Nevada, his favorite place on earth. Ben and Helen remained in Las Vegas for the next 5 years, then returned home to be with family.

Benny was named after his grandfather, Benjamin Ashby Longacre.
Benny was the third great grandson of Benjamin Longacre, the first Longacre to move to Missouri.
And the sixth great grandson of Anders Peterson Longacre and Magdalena Cock Longacre, the first Longacres born in America.
