Raymond "Ray" C. Albrecht, age 95 of Troy,MO passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2011. He was born November 15, 1915 in Creve Coeur,MO the child of William and Carrie (Claussen) Albrecht. After attending the local schools, Ray married the love of his life, Nell Fletcher. Ray and Nell raised their two sons, David and James, who meant everything to them. Ray worked as a tool and die maker at Curtis-Wright Mfg in St.Louis, and later taught shop at Ranken Trade School. He raised and sold vegetables on his farm in Gumbo. He also had two produce markets. In 1972 when the new Highway 61 went through Gumbo, they moved to Troy. Ray's true passion was woodworking; if it could be made out of wood, he could make it. For many, many, years Ray operated his hobby shop on Boone Street in Troy. Ray was known for his sparkling bright blue eyes, his hard work ethic, and his devotion to his loving wife Nell. It was not uncommon to see Ray at Hechler's Hardware on Main St. getting supplies for one of his projects or a job he was working on. He always drove his tan and white old Chevy truck, with his baseball hat tilted to the side and work gloves sticking out of his pants' pocket. Ray was a very loyal friend, and his best attribute was his honesty. If Ray was your friend, he was always your friend. He was a proud member of the Zion United Church of Christ, and the Troy Masonic Lodge for over 60 years. He will be remembered lovingly by his family and many friends. Ray is survived by his beloved wife Nell Albrecht of Troy, two sons: David (Faye) Albrecht, and James (Marianne) Albrecht of Troy, six grandchildren fourteen great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one great-granddaughter Danielle Albrecht, three brothers, and one sister. Visitation to be held on Thursday, Feb.17, 2011 from 4-8 p.m. at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Troy.
