Carl Lee "Jack" Beckett died Thursday, February 12, 2009, at Presbyterian Manor in Kansas City, Kan. His funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 16, 2009, at Victory Hills Baptist Church, 2010 N. 66th Terrace, Kansas City, Kan. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2009, at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kan. The family requests memorial contributions to the Victory Hills Baptist Church or Alzheimer's Heart of America Chapter in care of the funeral home.

Jack was born October 13, 1918, in Ingalls, Okla., to Clarence and Mary Beckett. He was preceded in death by his brother Earl Beckett, and sisters Bessie Beckett, Naomi Carey and Ethel Cochran. He grew up on a farm near Selma, Kan., and graduated from Kincaid High School, Kincaid, Kan. His occupation was an auto and diesel mechanic. He married Bonnie Canady in Garnett, Kan., in 1943. She died in 1985. He married Roberta Beckett in 1986 in Spring Hill, Kan. She survives him. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II in the European Theater with the 193rd Field Artillery. He was a longtime member of Victory Hills Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, choir member, Sunday school teacher, and Macedonian Ministries leader.

Other survivors include sister Ivy Hillis, of Sapulpa, Okla.; daughters Carla Hall (Bill) of Peoria, Ill., Marsha Enloe (Dwaine) of Liberty, Mo., Liz Ballard (Chris) of Haviland, Kan.; stepson Tom Seymour of Dallas, Texas; stepdaughter Debi Stiller of Stilwell, Kan., along with six grandchildren, five step grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
