After being confined to the Skyline Hospital in White Salmon for many years as a semi-invalid and being moved to the Klickitat Valley Hospital to be closer to Goldendale relatives, Mary Jane Starks, died of a stroke Saturday morning, June 29th. She was preceeded in death by her husband Levi and two children, Matthew and Alvie.
Services were conducted July 3rd at 2 pm in the Knosher Funeral Home with Rev. W. N. Byars offiiciating. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery. Pallbearers were Clifton Sullens, August Jackel, George Willis, Alfred Hamllik, Lawrence Wilber and Harry Doyea.
Mary Jane Flitcraft, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Flitcraft, was born January 17, 1879 at Peru, Indiana. She was married to Levi Wesley Starks at Bryant, Wisconsin, and they made their home in Laona, Wisconsin, until moving to Goldendale in April 1946. To this union five children were born.
Surviving her are sons Oral Starks and Clyde Starks of Goldendale and and daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Delight) Kaatz of Ketchikan, Alaska. Other survivors include 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
