Chester was the only child born to Chester Anderson and Nettie Peterson. He attended public schools and attended CDCNY and an agricultural college in upstate New York. He joined the US Army and served in World War II an trained at Ft. Dix and Ft. Lewis before joining the US campaign in North Africa and Italy and was discharge with the rank of Master Sergeant. He moved to Wichita, KA and start a career as an electronic technician at Boeing. A member of Calvary Baptist Church and served on the Board of Trustees, also a member of Prince Hall Lodge, a 32 degree Mason and Shrine. He spent weekends driving across Kansas and Oklahoma fishing. He retired from the Wichita School Board of Education after many of years as a mechanic at Wichita High School West.
