BERNICE C. CARRIERE
Yerington, Nevada: Bernice Chapin Carriere, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2001 at Washoe Medical Center, Reno, Nevada. She was 84.She was born in Driscoll, North Dakota on November 18, 1917, the daughter of Allen and Olive Chapin. She had graduated from Driscoll High School and after receiving her teaching degree from Dickinson State Teacher College she taught in a one room school in Capital, Montana. In 1941, she married Donald Carriere and moved to Camp Cook, South Dakota where she taught school during World War II. After the War she and her family moved to Tipton, California where she taught for a number of years. The family moved to Yerington in 1964. Bernice was active in Homemakers, Saint Annes Guild, the Hospital Auxiliary and an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son, Lloyd Carriere of Carson City, Nevada; daughter, Donna Santos of Yerington, Nevada; two sisters, Eleanor Tice and Vivian Jensen both of Bismarck, North Dakota; 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A Rosary will be recited 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 7, 2001, at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208, Yerington. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 8, 2001, at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 37 N. West Street, Yerington. Interment will be 11:00 AM, Friday, November 9, 2001, at the Mountain View Cemetery, 435 Stoker Avenue, Reno, Nevada.
