Tabitha was born in 1808 in Rowan Co, NC, the first-born of Obediah and Elizabeth (Canady/Kennedy)Twidwell, and she died in 1852, likely in McDonough County, IL? James & Tabitha were living in Lamoine Twp in McDonough Co in 1850, but both she and James and an infant son, William are buried in Round Prairie Cemetery in Schuyler County, Illinois.
She was married the 6th of October 1826 in Davidson County, NC., to James Regan, a s/o Isham Sr. and Sarah Regan. They traveled with the Thomas Twidwell family, the Myers, Morris's, Kennedys and many others from Davidson Co, NC about 1834-1837 to the area of McDonough, Schuyler, & Hancock counties of Illinois. A Sarah Regan is buried near James Regan and Olen Twidwell says it is likely this was the mother of James and his siblings. A sister of Tabitha's, Mary Twidwell, called "Polly" also came with this group of people to this area and when Tabitha died in 1852, Mary married James the following year, but they never had children. James Regan died in Feb of 1860. Mary and her daughter Martha Twidwell were living nearby when Tabitha died. Martha met and married Daniel Matthews in Illinois, & they with Mary/Polly Twidwell Regan left there and were living in Wayne Co, MO before the 1870 census was enumerated in MO. James and Tabitha's children had married and started families of their own. Dwc
