Elizabeth Baker Cripps, Born 9 Feb. 1891,In Exton, Rutland, England to Henry Baker and Mary Turner Baker. She came to America,and headed out west with the Wagon Train abt. 1861.
She married Charles Cripp 13 Nov 1825 in Camberwell, Surey, England. They had 12 children, Elizabeth Mary Cripps born 7 May 1826, Henry Charles Cripps born 16 Nov 1827, Caroline Cripps born 6 April 1826, Sarah Ann Cripps 1 Aug 1830, Fredrick George Cripps born 11 April, Eliza Jane Cripps born 16 Jul 1833, John Williams Cripps born 17 Dec 1834, Ellen Crips born 9 April 1835,James Alfed born 13 April 1837, Emma Godbe Crips 1 Feb 1839, Stephen Baker born 9 May 1840, Donald Edwin born 4 Oct 1844.
All her children were raised to maturity. She also help raised 5 of her sons children when he became a widower.
Elizabeth had strong religious convictions, and when the gosple was taught she accepted it wholeheartedly. Most of her family did not come to America at once. Elizabeth came to America on the ship, the Underwriter in 1861.Her husband Charles Cripps came two years later.Elizabeth was a skilled nurse and a midwife. She delived her daughter's children. one baby she deliverd just before reaching Florence , Nebraska. So that child recived the name Florence. When heading out west with the wagon train they were on only allowed them to bring twenty pounds of foof and clothing on each wagon, so Elizabeth had to walk the entire distance to the Salt Lake City Valley in Utah.She continually to be a nurse and mid wife in the new Valley, she delived a baby grandchild when she was 90 years old Elizabeth died the next month. Elizabeth died 9 March 1891, her husband Charles Cripp died 1870. They are buried in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Elizabeth loved the beautiful Utah Mountains.Elizabeth was a pioneer women of Fortitude and Faith.
