"Some Descendants of John Cole" notes that "it is probable that either John or Betsy was a child of Broad Cole, Jr. Since both were named Cole, it is not possible to determine which of the two, John or Betsy, was a child of Broad, Jr. There is no further information on either John or Betsy. It is probable that both were born in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania." (Her maiden name was Cole.)
John and Elizabeth Cole of Franklin County are named in the quit-claim, 21 Jan 1832, on record in Pickaway. This was executed by Joshua and Susannah Cole, of Shelby County, Richard and Polly Cole Byerly, of Pickaway County, William and Sarah Cole Wisely, Fairfield County, and John and Elizabeth Cole, of Franklin County. That instrument transferred to Shadrach, the brother of that Joshua, Polly, Sarah, and John, all their right and interest in the 107 acres of the northwest quarter of Section 27 that had belonged to Broad, Jr., and upon which he had been taxed since 1815.
In the 1850 census, taken in Pike, Illinois, John and Elizabeth Cole have their son, Charles W. Cole living with them. John was born in Pennsylvania about 1785, and Elizabeth was also born in Pennsylvania, in 1787. Their son, Charles, was born in Ohio in 1829.
