John Citon Davitte came to South Carolina where he taught school and practiced law. He married one of his pupils, Ann J. Williams, daughter of Washington Williams and his wife, Sarah Griffin.
They lived fore a time in Edgefield County, South Carolina, but soon after her father died they removed to the Cherokee Lands in Georgia, where they owned 20,000 acres of land in Paulding County, later Polk County, Georgia, Their Children:
