Born March 18, 1935, in Cook County, Illinois, he was the son of the late Charles Joseph and Dora Pearl Dale Petkus.
Mr. Petkus is survived by two sons, Daniel Petkus of Wallingford, Kentucky, and Mitch Petkus, Jr., of Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan; two daughters, Debbie Petkus Perry of Wallingford, Kentucky, and Sharlene Petkus of Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan; one brother, David Petkus of Stanton, Michigan; one sister, Pat Montero of Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan; two grandchildren, Michelle Monroe and Brianna Perry; and one great grandchild, Kaleb Monroe.
Mr. Petkus was a retired operating engineer and former employee of Whitehead Sand & Gravel Company in Michigan. He enjoyed raising cattle and goats and traveling.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Kinross Township Cemetery in Kinross, Michigan.
Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
