Bessie Lea Hicks Baird, 93, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday at her home.
The daughter of Thomas A. and Mary Adeline Hicks, she married Dr. A. A. Baird February 8, 1906. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary at Caryville in 1956. Dr. Baird preceded her in death in 1957. She was a member of Oak Ridge First Baptist Church and loved flowers and enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Cates Baird, an English teacher at Oak Ridge High School.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Cross Chapel by the Rev. David Young. Burial was in Newcomb Cemetery.
