The Geauga Republican-Record, Chardon, OH. "Dies Suddenly At her Claridon Home Saturday. Heart Disease Causes Death Of Mrs. Harrison Rowley January 21. Mrs. Harrison Rowley, one of Claridon's most highly respected and beloved women, passed away suddenly at her home on Saturday, January 21, at the age of 46. She had been in ill health for two years with heart trouble. Grace Waters Rowley, second child of Edith Fowler and Charles Harold Waters, was born on June 5, 1892, at Marinette, Wisconsin. When she was fourteen years old, both parents died within six weeks. The family of nine children was taken to the home of an uncle in Canada and from there were separated and sent to the home of interested friends and relatives. Grace and her brother Harold came to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Newberry in Claridon and within a few years were influential in bringing four more of the children to this part of Ohio. The resolute spirit which is remarkable in every member of this family, led to the establishment of homes and families of their own. On August 12, 1914, she was united in marriage to Harrison M. Rowley and for almost twenty-five years has been a loyal companion for him. Two sons were born to this union, Robert Harrison and James Douglas. Her life is a beautiful memory of unselfish devotion, not only in her own home with her family but in her church and community. She leaves to mourn her loss, besides her husband and sons, three brothers, Harold and Charles of Cleveland and Theodore of Windsor; three sisters, Mrs. Marion Stewart and Luella Weber of Cleveland and Mrs. Betty Scratch of London, Canada, also a wide circle of relatives and friends who knew her but to love her. Two sisters, Henrietta and Bernice preceded her in death."
