The eighth of nine children of Grace Richardson and Augustus Brown. Genevieve was a musician who played in the "all girl" band "The Ingenues" which travelled with Ziegfeld in 1927. Upon her return from this around-the-world tour, she worked on Broadway for an unknown length of time. She was never married. Scrapbooks of her travels have been donated to the Newberry Library in Chicago.
