JEROME M. BAKER OF OTTAWA DEAD
Jerome Monroe Baker, 78, retired farmer of 617 S. Poplar, died this morning at the Norris nursing home, at Paola. He had been in failing health nine months, and his death resulted in hardening of the arteries.
He was a native of Missouri where he was born April 16, 1866, son of Joseph and Mary (Martin) Baker. He was married to Iva May (Mae) Mulvany July 10 (17), 1894 at Glenwood, Ia. She died November 26 (22), 1943. The family lived in Ottawa and Franklin county for 29 years, coming here from Lawrence. He had been at Paola two months.
Surviving relatives are five children Edgar J. Baker and Mrs. D.H. Sheffield, Ottawa; Charles R. Baker, Paola; Mrs. Walter Lassen, Overbrook, and Mrs. Melvin McClelland, Lawrence; two brothers and a sister, Will Baker, Claremore, Okla; George Baker, LaJunta, Colo; and Mrs. George Townsend, Pacific Junction, Ia, and 12 grandchildren.
The body was brought to the Lamb funeral home, and the funeral will be there Sunday at 2 p.m. Rev EL Torrence of Trinity Methodist Church is to officiate and interment will be in Stony Point Cemetery, Douglas county.
