Mary Amelia Wight Burt, 101, died on June 7, 1996 in Brigham City from causes incident to advanced age.

She was born September 7, 1894 in Brigham City, Utah, a daughter of Thaddeus and Harriet Elizabeth Wight. She married Reginald Nelson Burt on June 7, 1916 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Reginald died March 20, 1978.

Amelia has been an active member of the LDS Church all of her life and filled all callings available to women in the various wards in which she lived. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Her interests were many and varied. She enjoyed quilting and was well known for her tatting edges on handkerchiefs for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed doing genealogy. Amelia was a stalwart matriarch of her family for many years and was loved by all of them and those with whom she came in contact with.

She is survived by the following sons and daughter: Albert Burt and Ted Burt, both of Corinne, Utah; Harold Burt, Honeyville, Utah; Richard Burt and Barbara B. Hawkes, both of Centerville, Utah; and Clinton Burt, Bear River City, Utah. Her heritage includes 34 grandchildren, 140 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great-grandchildren. She knew each and every one by name. Preceding her in death was a daughter, Ruth Miner, two daughters-in-law and four great-grandchildren. Amelia, being the last of her line, was pre-deceased by the following brothers and sisters: Arvilla (Orme), Theon, Lillian (Lunt), Emery, Kathleen (Rees) and Clinton.

Funeral services will be held in the Honeyville LDS Ward Chapel, under the direction of the Bear River City Second Ward, on Tuesday at 12 noon. Friends may call at Petersen Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham, on Monday from 6-8 p.m., and on Tuesday one hour prior to services at the Honeyville chapel. Interment will be in the Bear River City Cemetery.
