MISS CABLE FOUND IN WRECKED CAR
Miss Ada Cable, 74 a well known retired Harrisburg school teacher, is listed in poor condition at Doctor's hospital after lying 13 hours in her wrecked car before she was found at 6:45 a.m. today.
Miss Cable was reported missing at 4:30 p.m. Friday after leaving the Courtney-Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia, where her brother, Oscar Cable, was lying in state, and was en route to her home at 2 East Walnut street.
Authorities searched the area between Galatia and Harrisburg during the night, but were unable to find her car a 1968 Chevrolet.
This morning, while walking along the highway for a close search, State Trooper Thurman E. Yates located the car beside a large culvert about two miles west of Raleigh near the Harold Godard home.
The car was lying against the culvert and could not be seen from the highway, but only by looking straight down from the side of the roadway. The windshield had been broken and Miss Cable was lying on the floorboards of the car.
Carl England, administrator of Doctor's Hospital, said she was in a a state of shock and bleeding from the injuries about the head which had evidently struck the windshield. While, somewhat incoherent, Miss Cable had told those who removed her from the car that she did not try to get out after the accident, but remained there expecting to be found. However, location of the car delayed finding it for the 13-hours period.
The car had left the side of the roadway, jumped a ditch, spun around and landed against the culvert. The scene had been checked during the night several times by searchlights, but the lights were unable to detect the car from the highway.
