Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at 1:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Shelby C. Andrus, 79, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at his residence in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.

Reverend Ann Sutton of Northwood United Methodist Church in Lafayette, will conduct the funeral services.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Judy Patterson Andrus of Lafayette; two sons, Keith Andrus and Craig Andrus and his wife Holly Grefe-Andrus, all of Lafayette; one grandson, Ross Andrus of Deville, LA; four sisters, Julie Knight and her husband Tommy, Gail Starnes and her husband Jay, Bettye Foreman and Rebecca Horner and her husband David; and five brothers, Charles Andrus and his wife Irma, Ronald Andrus and his wife Patsy, Barney Andrus, Jr. and his wife Jean, Robert Andrus and his wife Ronda and Thomas Andrus and his wife Rachel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Addie Durio Andrus; one sister, Kathleen Hrovatic; and his grandparents, Cliff and Melissa Andrus and Gerome and Josephine Durio.

A native of Eunice and a resident of Lafayette for fifty years, Shelby graduated from Eunice High School and attended McNeese State University. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy for four years during the Korean War. He worked for Texas Gas Transmission and later retired after many years of service.

Shelby was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Lafayette, and a Scottish Rite Free Masonary 32° member. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Pallbearers will be Charles, Ronald, Thomas, Robert, Michael, and Barney Andrus, Jr.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Andrus' name to Hospice Compassus, 302 La Rue France, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70508.
