A funeral service for Bonita "Bonnie" Cook Bouknight, 63, of Irmo will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, November 5, 2012 at Chapin Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until noon at the church. Burial will follow in Shady Grove UMC Cemetery. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo is assisting the family.
Mrs. Bouknight died peacefully, at her home Friday, November 2, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Laurens, SC, she was a daughter of the late George Henry and Ora Dell Pulley Cook. She was the wife of Garnette Bouknight. Mrs. Bouknight was a pianist who enjoyed animals, cross stitching and baking but her true love was her family and the church. She was a member of Chapin Presbyterian, Genesis Sunday School class and the F.O.C.A.S. Senior Group. She was a former member of St. James UMC in Laurens and Shady Grove UMC where she sang in the choir.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Garnette; daughter, Erin Bouknight Britz (Johnny) of Charleston; son, Bryan G. Bouknight (Lauren) of Irmo; grandchildren, Andrew and Sarah Britz; brother, Bruce Cook (Betty) of Abbeville; brother-in-law, Marshall Watkins; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Cook. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Kent Cook and a sister, Marcia Watkins.
The family extends a special thank you to her longtime caregiver and friend, Jamie Kirkland and also to Tri-County Hospice staff.
