Sister Mary Ruth Bailey (formerly Sister Mary Anthony) of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on December 26, 2004, in Goldsboro, NC.
Born on April 21, 1929 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Foley Bailey. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1947 and made her temporary profession of vows on May 8, 1950 and her final profession of vows on August 2, 1953
She served as teacher in schools in Cresson, Lock Haven and Pittsburgh, PA; Raleigh, New Bern, and Goldsboro, NC; East Rockaway, Smithtown and Syracuse, NY; and St. Petersburg, FL.
She received a bachelor of arts degree and a master of science degree both in elementary education from Marywood College in Scranton, PA.
Surviving are a brother Frank, Hingham, MA and a sister-in-law Mary D. Bailey, Munhall, PA. She was preceded in death by a brother Thomas and sisters Zelia and Helen M. Bailey.
The viewing and funeral was in St. Mary's Church in Goldsboro, NC. Interment will take place at St. Catherine Cemetery, Moscow, PA on January 3.
