Helen I. Benner, 79, Waldoboro died in Charlotte, N.C., Monday. She was the widow of Kenneth E. Benner who died in 1973. She was born in Waldoboro on May 4, 1897, the daughter of Ira and Mary Waltz Achorn. She had resided with her daughter in North Carolina for the past four years. Prior to that she had lived for 23 years in North Uxbridge, Mass. She attended the Methodist Church and was a Pythian Sister. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Alfred (Ruth) Spencer of Charlotte, N.C., she is survived by two sons, Roland E. Benner of Stowe, Mass., and Richard H. Benner of Clinton, Conn., two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Stellick of Stafford Springs, Conn. and Mrs. Jennie Nolan of Waltham, Mass., seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from the Hall Funeral Home, Waldoboro, with the Rev. Charles D. Kinney officiating. Interment will be at Shuman Cemetery in Waldoboro.
