Mary Catherine McArthur, daughter of John McArthur and Christiana Gordon, was born 14 December 1824 in Wilcox Co., AL. Her parents were natives of South Carolina. On 4 May 1842, she married William Bonner, Jr. in Alabama. After moving to Freestone County, TX, William and Mary lived just across Tehuacana Creek from his father and across the road from his sister, Eliza Ann Bonner Robinson. They were members of Harmony ARP Church ast Stewards Mill. During the Civil War, Carrie McArthur Grayson, Mary's sister and the wife of Dr. T. B. Grayson, and her children lived with the Bonners. Some of Dr. Grayson's letters to his wife contain messages for the Bonner family. Mary Catherine McArthur and William Bonner, Jr. were parents of 13 children: Thomas Oliver; Sarah Christiansen; William McArthur "Mac;" Infant Daughter; John Edwin; James Gordon; Charles Alexander; Irvin Brooks; Mary Caroline; Ann Lee; three more infants. Mary Catherine McArthur Bonner died 16 October 1875 in Freestone Co., TX.
