Marguerite R. "Margie" Ingraham Umstead
Birth: Nov. 14, 1919
Yates County
New York, USA
Death: Nov., 1990
Bibb County
Georgia, USA

Marguerite Umstead was born in the Finger Lakes region of New York State, the daughter of Howard Raymond Ingraham and Ruth (Pepper) Ingraham, who were primarily farmers. She had three sisters, Wilma, Ruth and Mary, and two brothers, Raymond, and Warren (who did not survive childhood). She married a man named Shea who was in the US Navy and with whom she had two sons, Patrick and David. Later she married Claude Umstead, a roofer, with whom she had another son, William, and a daughter nicknamed "Bunny." Upon being widowed when her second husband died in a tragic accident, she moved to Longwood, Florida and bought a home across from her parents, who had retired there from their home in New York State. She had a strong constitution, a wonderful sense of humor and always maintained a very upbeat and positive outlook on life. When she grew older, after the passing of her parents, she moved in with her son Bill and his family in Macon, Georgia. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She was especially close to her older sister Wilma McMaster. She will always be remembered with a great deal of love and respect.
