Mr. Frederick Herman Block was born at Peglow, circuit Saatiz, Prussia, Germany March 27, 1857 and passed away at his home place nine miles east of Seward June 13, 1935. His age was 78 years, 2 months and 16 days. The immediate cause of his death wa a stroke suffered on Tuesday, to which he succumbed Thursday afternoon. Coming of Lutheran parentage he was baptized and confirmed in due time. For two years, from 1879 to 1881, he served his native country as a soldier in the German army. On October 25, 1881 he was united in marriage to Miss Augustine Muenchow, who preceded him in death November 30, 1934. Mr. Block had lived in Seward county since 1882. In 1888 he joined Immanuel Lutheran Church as communicant member and August 20, 1893 as voting member. He leaves to mourn his loss one son, Emil Block, Seward, one daughter, Mrs. William Lehr, Utica, one daughter-in-law, one son-in-law, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild and one brother, Willliam Block, Utica, Nebr. Funeral services were held June 16, at the home and the church, Rev. A. Merz officiating and burial was made in the church cemetery, Chain & Wood in charge. Four grandsons, two husbands of daughters were pallbearers: John Lehr, Arthur Lehr, William Lehr, Jr., Paul Block, Clyde Walker and Carl Scherer.
